01] Danger! The Doom-Wave Is Coming …

Sten: Basically Doom-Wave does not exist. We just found a strange combination of two styles we do really appreciate, new-wave and doom metal. By the way I think that punishing music into genres and styles is something really awful, a sort of masturbation for wannabe experts. Reality is that we had enough of some labels like post.. or hard.. or ..core, ’cause the sense of the terms themselves has been lost among thousand of useless music.

02] Earthache? …

Lorenzo: Sanity is not here but it used to be. Nature was sanity, humanity is not any more. Since we managed to extrapolate ourselves from nature, we, as humans, started making a new world, a worse world. We escaped from natural laws to establish our own laws, and this resulted in the total absence of control. It’s like being your own god, it might be fun but the drawbacks are higher than the benefits. We rather than cataclysms are the destructive force within this planet. A word to summarize all this? Earthache.

Lorenzo: What scene? I don’t see any scene here.. what I see is a bunch of genuine people who try their best to make things happen. I’d call it “friendship” rather than “scene”..

03.3] Welcome To The Mushroom Studio …

Sten: We decided to go to the Mushroom, because of its location, and frienship with Enrico Berto. It was totally funny to try this way, exploring our sound among the mountains and forests! Really amazing. The approach to our mood and Enrico Berto’s way of working were different, and this has developed some choices of us. The great Lorenzo Della Rovere has been so helpful for everything to go as it’s gone. In the end we are quiet satisfacted.

04] Are The Best Years Still To Come?

Lorenzo: We do hope in better years to come.. if they’re are going to be the best years we don’t really know.. time will tell. Against all odds we keep positive by doing what we believe in. Personally speaking, I still believe in the “homo faber fortunae suae” thingy you know? I mean, if you work hard sooner or later you’ll get some results.. unfortunately people tend to live their lives as if they were predetermined.. I don’t accept that mental and physical lazyness..

Sten: …and together we will sink, with our best years.

05] Three Facts Behind The Handmade Limited Edition Promo EP …

Lorenzo: Fact 1: Speak what you think, do what you speak! as simple as that..

At the end of the day you can have the greatest idea ever but if you don’t put into practice you’re idea counts less than a zero. I do get a lot of satisfaction by making things with my own hands, it makes me feel alive. This is why we did it.

Fact 2: Any work is like a creature, and a creature needs dedication. You have to be seriously committed in whatever you do otherwise it all becomes pointless. I truly think that whatever the personal taste, thought and superficial works are distinguishable: the aesthetic side of a work is of the utmost importance but it’s strictly related to the ethos which motivates the work. No ethos, no party! Aesthetics comes in the second place. I just can’t stand the “eye candy philosophy” of trendy graphics, trendy colours and trendy ideas: skulls, guns, bullets, roses, rainbows, wings all over the place.. you can call it as you want but for me that is neither art nor communication.

Fact 3: The handmade, hand-numbered EP is a honest work. Every copy required a lot of time and patience. Almost 90% of materials we used were recycled and the leftovers were recycled too. When a fan buys a copy I think he or she can appreciate what is behind it. The object itself is not very relevant, what is relevant is the effort put in the making of it. You can’t ask people for money without giving something in return, it’s a matter of respect. In fact, a copy cost us more than what we ask for it. Respect can’t be measured in monetary terms. Since all the hundred copies were pre-ordered in less than 48 hours I guess our message has been received.

06] Sten And His Visions …

Sten: I don’t really think I have visions. I rather think that I live through them, such like the most of us. This project started with the will of the concept: basically the idea comes from the Schopenhauer’s view about the Will and the Rappresentation. I just thought about the Resignation, as the final step, where this sort of pendulum moving between Boredom and Pain would stop. This is why the body is not only Dead. It’s Cold, frozen, with no chance to move. But immobility is the only way to see the real movements of Will around us. It’s ironic to know, that among all our thoughts, lyrics and music, our name is the more positive aspect of us…

06,5] Many Plans – But Where Is The Plan? …

Sten: More than a Plan I see a Masterplan we can work on or not. The meaning of the ACDB project as an art collective starts with the will of including differents styles and thoughts into a unique project. If we are gonna follow this way, I see great things for us in the future; if not, we our destiny is to let the body get rotten on the bottom of unknowledge.

Lorenzo: I’m so looking forward to what’s next actually.. I don’t see “Harvest Years” as a waiting station but as the station of departure.. the certain thing is that the train has left town, the uncertain thing is where that train is going to..

Sten: I personally consider this first album as a starting point, more than a station. It includes all our first thoughts, everything we developed in 6 people in these years of work. We are spending so much time to pull it out just because we are considering every detail to be as we want it to be.

Lorenzo: Maybe the best years are the harvest years which didn’t come yet. In this sense there is not much to remember but a lot to wait and see..

Lorenzo: Yeah, it’s always a mess.. we’re far too many, but we like it this way.. the bigger the family the better! Actually, our 7th member is more of a spiritual than a physical presence.. The internationally acclaimed Suck Hetty is a former member of Three Steps To The Ocean.. what else to add? they’re great! it was love at first sight when we toured Austria together in 2008.. good news is that we’re about to share the stage again for a few gigs..

With us all sending some of our parts to each other, and Tom Morris handing most of the mixing, we’re constantly getting rough mixes of songs or new ideas being sent to each other. Our audiences seem to be mostly men, many with beards (not a bad thing at all). I’ve yet to see any sign of the groupies I got into music for in the first place.

Both bands are our friends, bands that we like and like playing with and along side. Thom Corah played trombone on the I Like Trains Spencer Percival b-side I am Murdered, and Tom Morris sang on the Worriedaboutsatan song Evil Dogs.
We’re actually due to be touring next Easter across the UK and Europe with Worriedaboutsatan.
Its already looking to be a great tour as both bands are big Arnold Swartcheneger fans. (I CANT SPELL)

13] At The Bar Of The Post Summer Fest … Unfortunately this was cancelled so we didn’t end up playing, which was a shame as we we’re really looking forward to it.
We managed to use the day wisely, we spent the day at a lake close by swimming and sleeping, staying in some tents and have a nice quiet day.

13.3] Finally On The Road Again … Hell yes!! we love being on the road, the best tour we’ve ever had and the most fun we’ve ever had on tour happened this year, touring over mainland Europe, it was truly eye opening.

There are mostly comic illustrations on that website about women being haltered, electrocuted, decapitated, with men standing around them raping them or masturbating. It’s really nasty. The lyrics to that song make direct references to that website. It’s a song about power, in its purest form. About how permanent exposure to sexual stimuli, to beautiful bodies on billboards and on tv, cripples our desires and inevitably leads to sexual frustration, and how sexual frustration leads to the quest for power, as compensation for frustration, and to the will of using force. That scheme is true not only for sexual frustration and sexual violence, but for any type of frustration and any type of violence, so the song is basically just a metaphor for a larger mechanism of human behavior.

Aber was hat das mit dem zu tun?

11] Nightshots in den Büschen sollten … Mein Diplomthema werden, aber dann kam die Musik und mit ihr die Einsicht, dass das andere viel besser machen. Dennoch, Blitzfotos sind toll! Ich bin da ganz einfach gestrickt.
